Commissioned by the Empire Marketing Board and printed by Eyre & Spottiswoode for HMSO, this artwork features a powerful message. The full text accompanying it reads: "They shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning hooks: Nation shall not lift up a sword against Nation, neither shall they learn war any more". The Manchester Art Gallery boasts an intriguing collection of artist-designed posters commissioned by the British government's Empire Marketing Board between 1926 and 1933.
