Crouse College Syracuse University
Crouse College Bell Tower Syracuse University New York.
Since the early days of Crouse College, the bells have been looking over the Syracuse University campus. Toward the end of the 19th century, John Crouse, the buildings benefactor and a University Trustee at the time, bought the first nine chimesÔÇöweighing from 375 to 3, 000 poundsÔÇöfrom Clinton H. EDITORS COMMENTS
The iconic Crouse College Bell Tower stands tall and proud, overlooking the picturesque Syracuse University campus in New York. This stunning print captures the timeless beauty of this historic landmark. Since its early days, the bells of Crouse College have played a significant role in the university's history. Generously donated by John Crouse, a dedicated trustee and benefactor of the institution, these nine chimes were purchased from Clinton H. Meneely Bell Foundry for $5,000 back in the late 19th century. Although John Crouse never had the chance to witness his beloved building completed, he did have one last opportunity to hear those majestic bells before his passing in 1889. Just 24 days after their installation, they rang out with a resounding melody known as "Carol Sweetly Carol" on the Hill. Today, these magnificent bells continue to resonate across campus and serve as a symbol of tradition and excellence at Syracuse University. The Crouse College Bell Tower remains an architectural gem that not only enriches students' lives but also captivates visitors from far and wide. This breathtaking print by Tony Shi Photography perfectly encapsulates both the grandeur of Crouse College and its enduring musical legacy. Displaying it proudly will transport you to a place where history meets artistry—a true testament to Syracuse University's rich heritage.
