In this delightful 19th century cartoon, we find ourselves transported back in time to an idyllic winter scene, as a coach laden with travelers makes its way to an inn for a much-anticipated Christmas meal. The snow-covered landscape, with horses prancing in the frosty air, sets the stage for a cozy and festive gathering. The plump woman at the center of the image steps out of the coach, her eyes wide with excitement and a hint of trepidation. She wonders aloud whether there will be any plum pudding left for her, with all the other people around. The coachman, a sturdy figure bundled up against the cold, assures her not to worry, as he exchanges friendly banter with the innkeeper.
