This stunning detail from the Brancacci Chapel in the Church of Santa Maria del Carmine in Florence, Italy, showcases the masterful artistry of two Renaissance greats: Masolino da Panicale and Masaccio. Painted between 1426 and 1482, this fresco depicts the expulsion of Adam and Eve from Paradise. Masolino, born as Tommaso di Cristoforo Fini, executed the left side of the chapel, while Masaccio, known as Tomaso di Ser Giovanni di Mone, worked on the right. Masolino, a Sienese painter, was a leading figure of the Quattrocento, the period of art in Italy between the 15th and early 16th centuries. Masaccio, on the other hand, is considered one of the pioneers of the Early Renaissance.
