The race attracted a total of 52 entries, with only 27 aircraft completing the grueling course. Sir Charles W.A. Scott and Captain Campbell Black, flying a de Havilland DH.88 Comet named "G-ACSS The Southern Cross," crossed the finish line in Melbourne on April 14, 1934, after an incredible journey that took them through some of the most challenging weather conditions and remote areas of the world. Their victory was a testament to their skill, determination, and the advanced technology of the time. The 1930s was an era of innovation and excitement in aviation, and the England-Australia Air Race was a shining example of the spirit of competition and adventure that defined the age.
