Originally built as an F4H-1 Phantom in 1962, this aircraft underwent an upgrade to become an F-4B-23-MC in 1962. By 1979, it had been further upgraded to an F-4N. During its service with VMFA-321, tragedy struck on July 27, 1979, when it collided mid-air with another F-4N, 151413, near Twenty-Nine Palms, California. This incident resulted in the unfortunate crash of 152284.
