This exquisite marble sculpture, created by the renowned Greek artist Praxiteles around 330 BC, depicts the god Hermes in the act of carrying the infant Dionysus to the care of nymphs. According to Greek mythology, Hermes was entrusted with the task of delivering Dionysus to the nymphs of the Nysa Mountains for their protection and upbringing.
