The image is taken from John Gould's A Monograph of the Trogonid, or Family of Trogons, Plate 35, published in 1838. The print was created by the skilled hands of John and Elizabeth Gould, who meticulously colored each detail to bring out the vibrant plumage and anatomical features of the bird. The Philippine Trogon is perched gracefully on a branch, its long, slender bill and distinctive collar standing out against its rich, chestnut-colored belly.
