Arthur Wellesley Collection

Arthur Wellesley, 1st Duke of Wellington, was a British soldier and statesman who is most famous for leading the Allied forces to victory against Napoleon at the Battle of Waterloo in 1815. He also served as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from 1828 to 1830. Born in Dublin, Ireland in 1769, Wellesley joined the British Army at an early age and rose quickly through its ranks.
