Rutland Osprey nest Featured Rutland Print

Rutland Osprey nest

Ospreys on a nest in Rutland, Leicestershire. Wildlife experts were celebrating yesterday after an endangered osprey chick hatched in England for the first time in 150 years. The success raises hopes that the fish-eating birds could once again become a common sight in England. *The chick hatched after a five-year project at Rutland Water nature reserve. Ospreys only breed in Scotland but Leicestershire and Rutland Wildlife Trust, Anglian Water and the Highland Foundation for Wildlife are trying to reintroduce them south of the border

Bubbly by John Hastings Turner

Flyer for Bubbly by J. Hastings Turner, presented by Ralph Haslam with music by Philip Braham. It was first produced at the Comedy Theatre in London, on 5th May 1917. Although the top of the card has 'From the Comedy Theatre' where the revue ran for 426 performances, the reverse has 'From the Alhambra Theatre, London, touring to Theatre Royal, Nottingham on 18th February 1918'. The image shows a large clay pipe on a red and white striped background with many bubbles floating. Seated on the largest is a female pierrot clown. The actors and actresses names appear in these bubbles. They are Ivy Tresmand, Doris Barrington, Gaby Condor, Florence Bayfield, Edith Payne, Bobbie Rutland, Claude Ryder, Ernest Seebold, Cedric Percival and Edmund Russell. The arrangement was by Andre Charlot. Date: 1917
