EDITORS COMMENTS
This print showcases a collection of prestigious Brazilian decorations from the 19th century. At the top, we are presented with a plate of large cross that once belonged to Pedro (Peter) 1st of Bragrance, the King of Brazil from 1798 to 1834. Crafted between 1825 and 1850, this exquisite piece is made of gold and enamels, standing at a height of 8.9 cm and weighing in at an impressive 80 g. To the left, we find a plate of an officer who was part of the imperiale family of Brazil during the same era. This opulent ornament is adorned with gold, diamonds, and enamels, boasting a diameter of 5.5 cm and weighing around 50 g. On the right side rests another officer plate belonging to Councillor JJR Lopes in the year 1866. Made with gold, diamond accents, and emaux detailing, this smaller plate measures approximately 5.3 cm in diameter and weighs about40 g. Lastly but certainly not least is a commander plate that belonged to another member of Brazil's imperiale family during the expansive reigns throughout South America in the early years after independence from Portugal. This stunning piece combines gold, silver, diamonds, and emals into its intricate design. It stands tall at eight centimeters high, widening out to roughly five point four centimeters wide. The weight comes up as fifty grams on scales used for measuring precious metals. These remarkable pieces have been carefully preserved within a private collection, making them even more valuable as they offer us glimpses into Brazil's rich history through their masterful craftsmanship.
