EDITORS COMMENTS
This print showcases a peasant from Lombardi, Italy in the 18th century. The image is based on a painting by Francois Londonio, beautifully brought to life through the hand-colored illustration by E. Lechevallier-Chevignard. Lithographed by A. Didier, L. Flameng, and F. Laguillermie, this artwork was featured in Georges Duplessis' renowned book "Costumes historiques des XVIe, XVIIe et XVIIIe siecles" (Historical costumes of the 16th, 17th and 18th centuries) published in Paris in 1867. The peasant's attire reflects the fashion trends of that era with intricate details meticulously captured by Lechevallier-Chevignard's skilled brushstrokes.
