Tableau 37 in atlas: Illustrations to Maximilian, Prince of Wieds Travels in the interior of North America. Depiction of the unusual rock formations along the Missouri River near the mouth of the Musselshell River. Deer and other wildlife gather along the river banks and birds soar above. In 1836 Maximilian commissioned Bodmer to create illustrations to accompany the text of his atlas documenting their travels. These illustrations include 81 plates of aquatints.
