This print showcases the exquisite insignia of the Order of St. Alexander (Bulgaria), a prestigious honor bestowed upon individuals for their outstanding military service and meritorious achievements. The photograph captures various pieces from different time periods, each representing a different class within the order. In the top left corner, we see the insignia of great cross belonging to the Royal Family of Bulgaria at the beginning of the 20th century. Crafted with gold, silver, diamonds, and enamels, this stunning piece stands at 11.5 cm tall and weighs 100 g. Moving to the top right corner, we are presented with a first-class badge (grand cross) manufactured by Friedlander in late 19th century. Made with gold, diamonds, and enamels, this regal decoration measures 10.3 cm in height and weighs 90 g. The middle section features a second-class plate (Grand Officer) also created by Friedlander at the end of the 19th century. This intricately designed piece is made from silver, diamonds, and enamels; it has a diameter of 8.2 cm and weighs approximately 80 g. Lastly, on both bottom corners lie two remarkable plates: one representing Orders large cross for military merit crafted by CF Zimmermann at the beginning of the 20th century; while its counterpart is an extraordinary Large Cross plate "War Decoration" manufactured in1916 by CF Zimmermann as well. These exceptional artifacts are part of a private collection curated by Luisa Ricciarini that beautifully preserves Bulgarian history through these magnificent symbols of valor and distinction.
