The illustration is taken from the third part of "The Zoology of the Voyage of HMS Beagle," a seminal work documenting the diverse wildlife discovered during the famous expedition led by Charles Darwin. The Galapagos finches, scientifically known as Geospiza magnirostris, are native to the Galapagos Islands in the Pacific Ocean. This species of finch is known for its distinctive beak shape, which varies depending on the diet of the individual bird.
