EDITORS COMMENTS
This print captures the awe-inspiring construction of the M6 Motorway through the picturesque Lune Gorge at Borrowbeck Viaduct in Cumbria. The image showcases a remarkable view from below, as massive bridge beams are being launched across the gorge by a towering gantry above. The ambitious project was undertaken by John Laing Construction Ltd. , with work commencing in October 1967 and culminating in the opening of this section of the motorway to traffic in October 1970.
