The 18th-century Flemish artist masterfully captured the essence of this vibrant, long-tailed passerine in this stunning painting. The Common Iora, also known as the Common Green Iora or the African Golden-bellied Greenbul, is a small bird belonging to the Aegithinidae family. The bird is depicted perched gracefully on a branch, its bright green plumage contrasting beautifully with the brown bark of the tree. Its long, curved tail feathers fan out behind it, adding to its striking appearance. The Common Iora is a front-facing, passerine bird, with a distinctive black mask covering its eyes and a yellow underbelly. Its beak is short and curved, well-suited for its omnivorous diet.
