The Battle of Eylau, fought on February 8, 1807, was a significant engagement in the Napoleonic Wars between the French army, led by Napoleon Bonaparte, and the combined forces of the Prussian and Russian armies. In this indecisive battle, both sides managed to avoid a definitive defeat, marking a turning point in the conflict. At the heart of the Prussian resistance was General Gerhard von Scharnhorst and his men, depicted in this evocative print from Mary Evans Prints Online.
