The Veiled Chameleon, also known as the Yemen Chameleon, is a member of the Chamaeleonidae family within the larger Squamata order, which includes lizards and snakes. This particular specimen was meticulously collected in 1905 by the esteemed Captain Perry, an intrepid explorer and naturalist of his time. The Veiled Chameleon is a diapsid reptile, belonging to the Sauropsida subclass, which also includes birds. With its distinctive crest, this chameleon is well-adapted to desert environments, allowing it to blend seamlessly with its surroundings and evade predators. The Veiled Chameleon is an articulated member of the Chamaeleoninae subfamily, which is characterized by its ability to move each vertebra separately, providing exceptional flexibility for this arboreal species.
