A Country Girl by James M. Tanner. Music by Lionel Monckton

A Country Girl by James M. Tanner (1858 - 1915) with music by Lionel Monckton (1861 - 1924) and lyrics by Adrian Ross (1859 - 1933). First produced at the Dalys Theatre in London on 19th January 1902. The image shows the Country Girl pointing to the caption You Do Make Ol Laaf!! The poster is here reproduced in Raphael Tuck & Sons Collectors Postcard Series No. 1501. The artist is Howard Forrest. An interestingly explicit link between the popularity of musicals and of postcard collecting in the Edwardian period. Date: 1902
