This photograph captures Helena Augusta Victoria, the third daughter of Queen Victoria of the United Kingdom, in an elegant and regal pose from the year 1891. Helena, born on May 25, 1846, is seen here wearing a stunning fur-trimmed coat, accessorized with a muff and a hat adorned with a royal collar. Her expression is serene and confident, reflecting her upbringing as a member of the British royal family. Helena Augusta Victoria, who was known as "Ella" within her family, was the eldest child of Prince Albert and Queen Victoria. Tragically, her mother outlived both her father and her older brother, Albert Edward, Prince of Wales, making Helena the heir presumptive to the throne from 1861 until her younger brother, Prince George, was born in 1865. Despite her close relationship with her mother, Helena's life was marked by personal tragedy. She was married twice, first to Christian of Schleswig-Holstein in 1866, and later to Prince Frederick of Wales in 1896. Both marriages ended in divorce. Helena died on June 2, 1923, at the age of 76. This photograph, taken in 1891, offers a glimpse into the life of a remarkable woman who, though not a reigning monarch, was an integral part of British royal history.
