Plate 16 of John Gould and Richard Bowdler Sharpe's seminal work, "The Birds of Asia," features a stunning hand-coloured lithograph of the Swinhoe's Pheasant, or Lophura swinhoii. This exquisite representation of the crested bird was published in Vol. 7 of the series between 1850 and 1883. The Swinhoe's Pheasant is a native of East Asia, specifically China and Taiwan.
