The image is a faithful reproduction of a portrait housed in the gallery of Roger de Gaignières, as depicted in the "Costumes Historiques de la France" collection published by Le Bibliophile Jacob in 1852. Achille de Harlay (1578-1643) was a prominent figure in the French political scene, serving as the Premier President of the Parlement de Paris, the highest judicial and legislative body in the Kingdom of France, from 1614 until his death. The Parlement was a crucial institution in the French monarchy, and its presidents held significant power and influence.
