Arbutus unedo, commonly known as the strawberry tree, is a small evergreen tree native to the Mediterranean region. This exquisite handcoloured etching of the strawberry tree, titled "Le petit Arbousier des Alpes" or "The Little Strawberry Tree of the Alps," is taken from Pierre Joseph Buchoz's "Collection Precieuse et enluminee des fleurs les plus belles et les plus curieuses," published in Paris in 1776. The etching showcases the delicate beauty of the strawberry tree, with its glossy, dark green leaves and clusters of small, white flowers.
