Anabaptists were a radical Protestant sect who rejected the established Church and embraced adult baptism. The Anabaptist movement emerged in the late 1520s and spread throughout Europe, including Switzerland. In Basel, they faced intense opposition from both the Catholic and Calvinist forces, leading to numerous trials and executions.
