Pancratium zeylanicum, also known as Asiatic Pancratium or Le Pancration Asiatique, is a stunning and intriguing flowering plant depicted in this exquisite hand-colored etching from Pierre Joseph Buchoz's Collection Precieuse et enluminee des fleurs les plus belles et les plus curieuses, published in Paris in 1776. The etching showcases the beauty and curiosity of this plant, which was cultivated in both Chinese and European gardens during that time. Pancratium zeylanicum is a bulbous perennial plant, native to Sri Lanka and southern India.
