The illustration was engraved by Carini, drawn by Jean Gabriel Pretre, and directed by the renowned French botanical illustrator Pierre Jean-Francois Turpin. Turpin (1775-1840) is considered one of the greatest botanical illustrators of the 19th century, known for his exceptional attention to detail and accuracy. This illustration showcases three different species of scaleworms or segmented worms: Eumolpe impatiens, Eumolpe scolopendrina, and Eumolpe longissima.
