The uniform, intricately detailed and richly adorned, reflects the grandeur and tradition of the French naval forces. The Enseigne de Vaisseau, a rank equivalent to a lieutenant in other navies, is shown wearing a bicorn hat, a distinctive headgear with two points, symbolizing the rank and status of a naval officer. The hat is adorned with a cockade, the national emblem of France, and a gold anchor insignia, representing the maritime nature of the French Navy.
