This beautiful photograph captures a moment of joy and celebration as President Grover Cleveland and his bride, Frances Folsom Cleveland, exchange vows on the grounds of the White House in Washington, D.C. on June 2nd, 1886. Grover Cleveland, who was the 22nd and 24th President of the United States, made history by being the only President to marry in the White House while in office, not once but twice. His first marriage took place in 1886 to Frances Folsom, who was 27 years younger than him, making her the youngest First Lady in American history. The couple met when Frances was just 21 years old and Cleveland was still a bachelor and a judge in Buffalo, New York. The wedding was a grand affair, with over 1,000 guests in attendance, including many dignitaries and members of the diplomatic corps. This photograph, taken around 1890, captures the newlyweds in a tender moment, with Cleveland gazing lovingly at his bride, and Frances smiling back at him.
