The Valiant B1, a versatile four-engine turboprop transport aircraft, was initially designed and manufactured by Vickers-Armstrongs, a British aerospace and defense company, between 1952 and 1955. The WP199, with its unique designation, was specifically modified to accommodate the Pegasus engine for testing purposes. The Pegasus engine, with its distinctive three-shaft configuration, offered increased power, efficiency, and reliability compared to the traditional piston engines of the time.
