This historic monument, nestled just 60 kilometers northwest of Madrid, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a must-visit destination for anyone traveling to Europe. The Royal Monastery of San Lorenzo de El Escorial was built between 1563 and 1584, during the reign of King Philip II of Spain.
