Born in 1833, Abu Bakar was the ruler of Johor, the first state in Malaysia to adopt the constitutional monarchy system. Abu Bakar's leadership brought significant changes to Johor, including the implementation of the Undang-undang Tubuh Negeri Johor (Johor State Constitution) in 1895.
