Olga Fullaway - A Dedicated Mother and Housekeeper to Football Star George Best
EDITORS COMMENTS
. In this print captured on the 19th of October, 1970, we see Olga Fullaway, a devoted mother of two young boys, Stephen (6) and David (3 months). At the age of 31, Olga has recently embarked on an exciting new journey as the housekeeper for renowned football star George Best. Located in Bramhall, Cheshire, Best's newly built home is now entrusted to Olga's care for six hours each day from Monday to Friday. Her responsibilities include maintaining cleanliness throughout the house and diligently managing Best's correspondence. The selection of Olga as housekeeper was a natural choice due to her familial connection with Mary Fullaway. Mary had faithfully looked after Best at her residence in Chorlton-cum-Hardy, Manchester for an impressive nine years. This heartwarming image showcases not only Olga's commitment towards providing a nurturing environment for her children but also highlights her dedication towards supporting their family through employment. Balancing motherhood with work can be challenging; however, it is evident that Olga embraces both roles wholeheartedly. Peter Sheppard skillfully captures this momentous chapter in Olga's life through his lens. This photograph serves as a testament to the strength and resilience of women who successfully navigate multiple responsibilities while leaving an indelible mark on history.
