Roll em... Giving their giant tyre a last big push up these boys from Battyeford Middle School Mirfield, who raised £ 61.28 for Sport Aid. From left are Christopher Martin, Robert Argyle, John Bridgestock and Christopher Andrewartha, who pushed the tyre 10 laps - equivalent to about 2 1/2 miles - round mirfield estate. They were helped by Richard Argyle and Stewart Fox of Knowl First School, Mirfield, and Ashley Bulloch, of Battyeford First School. Also pictured are Battyeford Middle School pupils Dawn Lewis and Julie Bennett, who raised a further £ 32.00 for Sport Aid with a sponsored 10 lap run round Mirfield adventure playground. 8th July 1986

Giving their giant tyre a last big push up, these boys from Battyeford Middle School in Mirfield showcased their determination and community spirit as they raised an impressive £61.28 for Sport Aid. Captured in this nostalgic print from July 8th, 1986, Christopher Martin, Robert Argyle, John Bridgestock, and Christopher Andrewartha can be seen pushing the massive tyre around Mirfield estate for a remarkable 10 laps - equivalent to approximately 2 1/2 miles. These young athletes were not alone in their fundraising efforts. They received invaluable assistance from Richard Argyle and Stewart Fox of Knowl First School as well as Ashley Bulloch from Battyeford First School. Together, they formed an unstoppable team dedicated to making a difference. But the contributions didn't stop there! Dawn Lewis and Julie Bennett, fellow pupils at Battyeford Middle School, also joined forces by completing a sponsored 10 lap run around Mirfield adventure playground. Their efforts resulted in an additional £32.00 raised for Sport Aid. This heartwarming image captures the essence of camaraderie and dedication within the education system of Huddersfield's Kirklees district in West Yorkshire during the vibrant era of the 1980s.
