Brighouse Police Open Day: A Glimpse into the Thrilling World of Law Enforcement". In a remarkable display of community engagement, Brighouse police opened their doors to over 1000 eager visitors in a single day. And what an unforgettable experience it was! From the moment they stepped foot inside the station, excitement filled the air as people were drawn towards various attractions. One highlight was undoubtedly the chance to step inside the very cells that housed countless criminals. Surprisingly, all those who found themselves behind bars on this special occasion had willingly chosen to be there – perhaps seeking a taste of life on the other side of justice. But it wasn't just confinement that captivated attendees; there were plenty more activities awaiting them. For history enthusiasts, Community PC Chris Helme offered an enlightening journey through time, recounting tales from Brighouse police station's inception at the turn of the century. Children were not forgotten either; road safety competitions encouraged their participation while offering important lessons about staying safe on busy streets. Additionally, visitors gained firsthand knowledge about how police dogs and horses are instrumental in controlling hostile crowds – an eye-opening demonstration indeed! This snapshot from August 7th, 1988 captures a vibrant scene where uniforms symbolized protection and trust within Brighouse's close-knit community.
