A leek casserole from Prince Charles and water-cress soup from the Princess of Wales were among the recipes in a book complied for the bodyscanner appeal. And the Queen, Queen Mother, Duchess of York and the Princess Royal sent letters to St Johns C of E School, Golcar, wishing it luck with the recipe book. It contained more than 100 recipes and joke and illustrations, and was sold in the village for donations not less than £ 1. Altogether, the venture raised £ 325 for our appeal, and pictured with a giant cheque for the money are Joanne Warwick and Elliot Day and other pupils from the school. 11th September 1987

EDITORS COMMENTS
In this heartwarming print from 1987, we see Joanne Warwick and Elliot Day, along with other enthusiastic pupils from St Johns C of E School in Golcar, proudly holding a giant cheque. This cheque represents the incredible amount of £325 that they raised for the bodyscanner appeal through their unique recipe book venture. The recipe book was truly a community effort, featuring delicious contributions such as a leek casserole from Prince Charles and water-cress soup from the Princess of Wales. Even members of the royal family showed their support by sending letters to the school, including Queen Elizabeth II, Queen Mother, Duchess of York, and Princess Royal. More than just recipes, this special book also contained over 100 jokes and illustrations that brought joy to all who purchased it. The village came together in unity as they sold these books for donations not less than £1 each.
