EDITORS COMMENTS
This print takes us back to 1932, when the London & North Eastern Railway (LNER) sought to entice travelers to the charming city of Norwich in Norfolk. The poster, skillfully created by renowned artist Fred Taylor, showcases a picturesque view of this cathedral city. In the foreground, a tranquil river gently flows as boats gracefully glide along its surface. But it is the magnificent sight that awaits in the background that truly captivates our attention – Norwich Cathedral proudly stands tall with its soaring spire, which ranks as the second highest in all of Britain. Fred Taylor's artistic prowess shines through not only in this LNER poster but also in his other notable works for prestigious institutions such as Lloyd's and Reeds Lacquer Room. His talent has been showcased at esteemed venues like the Royal Academy and various London galleries throughout his career. Moreover, he lent his creative touch to multiple transportation companies including LNER and London Transport. Measuring an impressive 1016mm x 635mm, this print transports us back in time while simultaneously celebrating both architectural marvels and natural beauty. It serves as a testament to how art can inspire wanderlust and evoke a sense of awe for historical landmarks like Norwich Cathedral.
