Capturing the Spirit of Adventure - A Journey for a Cause
EDITORS COMMENTS
. This photo print, taken in May 1991, transports us back to a time when Scouts from Lostwithiel and Sticker joined forces with members of the St Austell and Par Scout Fellowship for an extraordinary weekend expedition. Their mission? To conquer the ancient Saints Way, embarking on a fundraising adventure that would change lives. In this snapshot frozen in time, we witness the essence of camaraderie and determination. Standing tall at the center is Simon Bonney, scout leader from Lostwithiel, proudly donning his uniform. Flanking him are two brave Lostwithiel scouts - John Scorse on his left and Stephen Hemmings on his right. The image not only captures their youthful energy but also showcases their essential gear – rucksacks filled with provisions for their arduous journey and bedding rolls symbolizing nights spent under starlit skies. Parked nearby is their trusty car bearing the registration number plate "PYK 418Y" ready to provide support along this epic trek. What makes this adventure even more remarkable is its purpose: raising funds to send Simon Bonney and these two exceptional scouts to represent Cornwall at the World Jamboree in Korea in 1992. It's heartwarming to see how communities rallied together through sponsorship to make dreams come true. Photographed by Jonathan Barker, this poignant moment encapsulates both personal achievements and collective efforts towards a common goal – all while travers
