Cassiopeia and Andromeda constellations

Cassiopeia and Andromeda constellations. Cassiopeia occupies the region at upper centre, and the W-shape of stars represents the throne of the queen in Greek mythology with the same name. The line of three bright stars running from lower left to bottom right form the constellation Andromeda, who in mythology was the daughter of Queen Cassiopeia. At lower centre, between the two, is the elongated smudge of the Andromeda Galaxy (M31), the nearest major galaxy to our own Milky Way. The stars of the Milky Way run through Cassiopeia from left to right, and it contains numerous nebulae (red) and star clusters

EDITORS COMMENTS
This stunning print captures the ethereal beauty of the Cassiopeia and Andromeda constellations. In the upper centre, we see Cassiopeia, a constellation that takes the shape of a majestic throne representing its namesake queen from Greek mythology. The W-shaped arrangement of stars symbolizes her regal seat in the heavens. Running diagonally from lower left to bottom right, we find the constellation Andromeda. According to ancient tales, she was Queen Cassiopeia's daughter. Three bright stars align gracefully to depict her celestial presence. At lower centre lies a mesmerizing elongated smudge - none other than our closest major galaxy neighbor, the Andromeda Galaxy (M31). This galactic wonder adds an extra layer of awe-inspiring grandeur to this cosmic composition. The Milky Way gracefully traverses through Cassiopeia from left to right, showcasing its vast expanse and countless wonders. Within this magnificent tapestry are numerous nebulae depicted in shades of red and star clusters that sparkle like precious gems against the dark night sky. This print by Science Photo Library invites us into a world beyond our own, where mythological legends intertwine with astronomical marvels. It serves as a reminder of both our insignificance in comparison to the vastness of space and our boundless curiosity about what lies beyond our reach.
