Tina, the famed chimpanzee star of television commercials for tea, is taking part

Tina, the famed chimpanzee star of television commercials for tea, is taking part in the Great Transatlantic London to New York two way air race. Tina, who appears to have done everything except fly, will cross the Atlantic in a special travelling case stowed aboard a scheduled BOAC airliner. Today Tina had a practice run over the course from the General Post Office Tower London (from where the competitors will start) to London Airport, and she seen here leaving the Tower for the dummy rin. She is driven to the airport in a chauffeur driven limosine.
The Great Race celebrated the 50th anniversary of the first non stop crossing of the Atlantic by Alcock and Brown.

EDITORS COMMENTS
In this photo print, we see Tina, the beloved chimpanzee star of tea commercials, embarking on an extraordinary adventure - the Great Transatlantic London to New York two-way air race. Despite her lack of flying experience, Tina will cross the vast Atlantic Ocean in a specially designed travel case aboard a BOAC airliner. Today marks her practice run from the General Post Office Tower in London to London Airport, where she is seen bidding farewell to the tower before heading towards the dummy ring. Accompanied by all the pomp and luxury befitting a superstar like herself, Tina is chauffeured to the airport in a sleek limousine. This daring race was organized as part of the grand celebration commemorating 50 years since Alcock and Brown achieved their historic non-stop crossing of the Atlantic. Capturing both humor and charm, this photograph showcases Tina's undeniable charisma as she fearlessly takes on new challenges. Dressed up for success and ready for action, this mischievous monkey brings joy not only through her television appearances but also through her audacious stunts atop iconic landmarks like GPO Tower (also known as London Telecom Tower or British Telecom Tower). This image from TopFoto encapsulates both nostalgia for 1960s culture and our enduring fascination with animals dressed up in human-like attire. It serves as a delightful reminder that even amidst serious endeavors such as transatlantic races, there's always room for lightheartedness and animal crackers!
