This print captures the essence of a mesmerizing performance by Japanese contemporary dancer Ko Murobushi during the Cena Brasil International theatre festival in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Taken on June 14,2015, the image showcases Murobushi's graceful movements and intense expression as he immerses himself in his art. Little did anyone know that this would be one of Murobushi's final performances. Tragically, just four days after this picture was taken, on June 18th, 2015, the renowned dancer passed away at the age of 68 while en route to Germany from Mexico City. His untimely death shocked and saddened both the dance community and his fans worldwide. Murobushi's legacy lives on through his extraordinary contributions to contemporary dance. Known for blending elements of Butoh with various cultural influences such as Brazilian rhythms and movements, he pushed boundaries and challenged conventions throughout his career. The photographer Marilia Cabral skillfully captured this poignant moment in time when Murobushi poured his heart into his performance.
