EDITORS COMMENTS
This lithograph print showcases the powerful figure of Richard Neville, Earl of Warwick, also known as Warwick the Kingmaker. Created by an English School artist and based on Rous's Roll of the Earls of Warwick, this artwork transports us back to the 15th century, a time filled with political turmoil and intense battles. Warwick's commanding presence is evident in his regal attire and stern expression. The intricate details of his armor reflect both his status as a nobleman and his role as a military strategist. As we gaze upon this image, we are reminded of the pivotal role he played in shaping England's history during the Wars of the Roses. The coat of arms displayed prominently behind him symbolizes not only his family lineage but also serves as a reminder that he was at the forefront of these conflicts. This lithograph captures a moment frozen in time - perhaps before or after one such battle where Warwick exerted his influence over kings and kingdoms. Through this print, we are transported to an era where power struggles were rife, alliances were constantly shifting, and war was ever-present. It serves as both a testament to Warwick's significance in British history and an invitation for us to delve deeper into this fascinating period.
