The kit-bag was originally khaki in colour and appears to have been stained dark blue for use by the Auxiliary Territorial Service (ATS). The ATS received kit-bags that had previously been allocated to the Army. The original buff colour was overlaid in blue grey.); National Army Museum, London, UK.
