Framed Print of Malagrida, driving post, 1792 (etching)

2966589 Malagrida, driving post, 1792 (etching) by Gillray, James (1757-1815); (add.info.: Lord Lansdowne, in peer's robes, urges his coachman on as his carriage charges towards the gateway of St James's Palace. Running behind are Charles James Fox, Richard Brinsley Sheridan and M A Taylor pleading to be taken on board, while through the gateway emerges the carriage of William Pitt, with Henry Dundas losing hold of the reins, a dove of peace flies overhead. This caricature alludes to Pitt's weakened position over his Russian policy, and King George III seeking Lansdowne's advice on the issue of a possible coalition); Photo © Historic Royal Palaces.
