PRX11970117 Red Howler Monkey (Simia pithecia), 1797 (hand-coloured copper engraving) by Audebert, Jean Baptiste (1759-1800); (add.info.: The monkey labeled as Simia pithecia (actually a howler monkey, not identical to what is now known as Pithecia saki) displays a robust body with reddish-brown fur on its belly and chest and darker back. Native to the tropical rainforests of South America, this species is known for its loud calls enabled by an enlarged larynx.
