EDITORS COMMENTS
This print showcases the mesmerizing artwork titled "Figures" by Benjamin F. Berlin, created between 1925 and 1929. In this masterpiece, the figures seem to transcend their physical boundaries as they become one with their surroundings. The artist skillfully employs a configuration of overlapping and intersecting faceted planes and ray lines, drawing inspiration from the iconic cubist style. The fusion of figures with the environment creates a visual symphony that challenges traditional notions of form and perspective. Each element seamlessly blends into another, blurring the line between subject and background. This technique not only highlights Berlin's mastery but also invites viewers to explore multiple dimensions within a single frame. The use of standard cubist devices further enhances the complexity of this artwork. Cubism is renowned for its ability to deconstruct reality into geometric shapes and fragmented forms, offering a fresh perspective on familiar subjects. Through this approach, Berlin pushes artistic boundaries by presenting his subjects in an abstract yet recognizable manner. As we gaze upon this remarkable print, we are transported back in time to witness Berlin's innovative vision firsthand. It serves as a testament to his creative genius and reminds us that art has no limits when it comes to reimagining our world through unique perspectives.
