Wasp was born in 1839, her sire being Muley Moloch, a strong stallion that won his races in the 1830s on race courses in northern England. Wasp had winning progeny including Neasham (a winner of the two-mile Northumberland Plate); Nettle (a winner of the Gimcrack Stakes); and Shot (1853, also a winner)

Frames have a perspex front providing a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish which is easily cleaned with a damp cloth.
