This salted paper print, plate 121 from the album "Egypte, Nubie, Palestine et Syrie" showcases the remarkable architectural features of an ancient Roman city. The image transports us back to the majestic ruins of Baalbeck (also known as Heliopolis) in present-day Lebanon's Beqaa Valley. Du Camp's lens captures not only the physical beauty but also reveals a profound sense of history and spirituality embedded within these ancient stones.
