EDITORS COMMENTS
This photo print, titled "Chemist Shop at Night, 1938" by artist Eric Ravilious, takes us back to a quaint English village in the mid-20th century. The scene depicts a charming country lane illuminated by the warm glow of street lamps and shop windows. Ravilious masterfully captures the essence of nighttime ambiance with his use of vibrant colors and delicate details. In this enchanting composition, we are drawn to the focal point - a small chemist shop adorned with a yellow sign that stands out against the turquoise night sky. The display window showcases an array of scientific instruments and books on various subjects including astronomy and the solar system. It is as if time has frozen in this moment, allowing us to peer into a world where science meets literature.
