In this intriguing 19th-century print titled "A Cool Customer" we are transported to a bustling tailor's shop. The scene captures the essence of frustration and disappointment as a well-dressed customer engages in an unusual transaction with the tailor. The customer, portrayed as a cool and confident individual, offers various payment methods to settle his account, yet none of them will result in actual payment. The image beautifully depicts the timeless concept of debt and occupation within the context of trade. His dejected expression speaks volumes about the challenges faced by professionals in their daily lives. Rendered in monochrome black and white, this satirical engraving by Charles Samuel Keene showcases his exceptional talent for capturing human emotions through art.
